Biography

The Exchequer was divided into two parts. The lower Exchequer, also called the Receipt, was responsible for receiving and dispensing public revenue. The upper Exchequer was a court that sat twice a year to check the accounts. The volume relates to the lower Exchequer.

Statement of Exchequer receipts and payments, 6 October 1758 - 5 October 1759, 121 folios. On fo. 1v is the bookplate of J. Eliot Hodgkin 1881. On the inside cover: 'Hodgkin sale Lot 495'.
