Scope and Contents 148 x 195 mm. Three quarter length portrait of Major General Orde Charles Wingate in bush uniform, probably taken in Burma. Wingate entered the Royal Artillery in 1923; he was attached to the Sudan Defence Force 1928-33 and served in Palestine and Trans-Jordan 1936-39. He was active behind enemy lines in Ethiopia in 1940-41 and was then selected to take charge of units to operate behind enemy lines in Burma.
