Biography

Alphonso and Arthur Lisk-Carew founded their business in 1905 (Macmillan 1920, p.267). They advertised as 'Photographers, importers of photographic materials, stationery, toys, fancy goods, etc., 3 East Brook Lane and 30, corner of Westmoreland and Gloucester Streets [Freetown, Sierra Leone]'. The brothers made photographic trips into the interior and also to the Gambia circa 1912. They were appointed photographers for the visit of the Duke of Connaught 1910.

207 x 147 mm. View of the same house as in Y30446L/50 and 41. The angle is similar to Y30446L/50, but more foliage has grown. The couple at the foot of the entrance stairs are probably Mr and Mrs Smyly.
